District 4

Harbourfront, Telok Blangah

District 4 is now one of the most exciting areas in Singapore after some recent upgrades in development. It now attracts thousands of tourists every year who visit Universal Studios and Sentosa, an exotic island entertainment resort. People also come to shop at Vivocity, a huge modern shopping centre. District 4 is also known for its international trade, as the location of Tanjong Pagar Port, which is one of Asia’s busiest.

The idea of living on the waterfront overlooking the Strait of Singapore has enticed a great many property buyers, so District 4 is one of the most desirable residential areas. Another reason for District 4’s popularity is its central location, giving residents easy access to Mount Faber, Resorts World Sentosa and Vivocity.

Luxury homes in Harbourfront and Sentosa Island make up 60% of the 6,300 units in those developments. Because these projects are so close to the sea, they can command a much higher asking price than other homes in the area. For example, buyers will pay an average price of $2,900 psf for a home in the Marina Collection community of Sentosa, whereas an average price of $2,000 psf is asked for homes in the Corals at Keppel Bay development.

Harbourfront is where the World Trade Centre once stood, replaced by Harbourfront Centre, which was redeveloped into Vivocity, the largest retail shopping destination in Singapore.

Visitors staying at Sentosa have an easy commute to Vivocity via the monorail. Harbourfront Office Park is home to a variety of businesses, plus the area also has a 6-storey commercial building where American bank Merrill Lynch is located, hence the name Harbourfront Merrill Lynch.

Telok Blangah

Another location in District 4 that people like to visit is the Henderson Waves Bridge, which runs between Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park. This is one of Singapore’s architectural marvels, forming a portion of the Southern Ridges, which is a gorgeous, lush trail that joins Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill and continues on to Kent Ridge Park.
