Marine Parade Residents Get To Enjoy A Quieter, Seaside Life

Marine Parade is located on the eastern coast of Singapore, an inviting community for people looking to enjoy tranquil beaches, delicious foods and vibrant Peranakan homes. It’s a neighborhood that was built in 1972 after the land had been reclaimed in the mid-1960s. The area projects an old-world charm, making it a must-see spot for heritage and architectural fanatics.

The area is still home to local communities that have lived here for generations, but many visitors who come here decide to make Marine Parade their home.

As such, today, Marine Parade has approximately 55,000 residents divided up between its five sub-zones namely Marine Parade, East Coast, Mountbatten, Katong, Marine East. It is a self-sufficient estate made up of apartments and condos with recreational and commercial amenities throughout the area. Due to its location near the sea, Marine Parade offers a stress-free kind of environment with facilities that make living here convenient and comfortable.

The Residential Life In Marine Parade

Besides the condos and apartments, the area offers shophouses and terrace houses that have been revitalized and upgraded to become gems in the neighborhood. Joo Chiat is one such neighborhood that has undergone a transformation but still offers a look at the past.

The Sandalwood community also offers an answer for people looking beyond condos and apartments, with its 16 conservation terrace homes. Flats are also available for those who want to live on the East Coast but are worried about living in apartments and condos.

With more families moving into the area to get away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, the need for schools is great. Marine Parade estate has several schools for children and young adults to attend, taught by professional, knowledgeable teachers to shape young minds. These schools include:

Activities and Entertainment Of Residential Living

Although Marine Parade is one of the smaller communities in Singapore, it is still big on amenities and facilities. There is plenty of things for people to do and enjoy. If fitness is a must, Marine Parade offers a gym to attend. If you want to watch a real-time performance, you can visit the Princess Theater.

Marine Parade residents will have their shopping needs met by the various stores offered along 112 Katong, Siglap Center and Parkway Parade, including healthcare, grooming, clothing, shoes, etc. Along Parkway Parade, you can find grocery stores, home good stores, banks and a major department store.

The estate is also home to the Katong Mall and Joo Chiat Complex that will meet residents’ needs and wants.

Singapore is considered a “culinary melting pot,” but Marine Parade is located on the East Coast, which means seafood. This means food vendors and restaurants are offering seafood dishes such as lobster, fish, shrimp, crab and more.

With Marine Parade situated in the Peranakan community, there has been a remarkable influence on the culinary industry. A mix of Indonesian, Malay and Chinese ideas, Peranakan chefs have used their spices to develop flavorful dishes. If this sounds like a deal for you, visit the PeraMakan or Glory Catering restaurants.

And, not to be outdone is the hawker fare at Old Airport Road Food Center, which is well-known for its soy beancurd, chee Cheong and prawn noodles. However, if you want normality in your food, there is always Toastbox, Boon Tong Kee and Din Tai Fung. At the Siglap Center, many restaurants cater to different cuisines such as Japanese, Turkish, and Italian. If you just want authentic Chinese, the Eastern and Northern Dumpling Restaurant is where to go.

The East Coast offers many downtime entertainment activities to enjoy, from rollerblading to cycling to running to fishing to barbecuing and more. One of the most prominent areas of Marine Parade is East Coast Park, which offers ample space to rest and relax while enjoying the sounds of nature.

If you’d rather spend time indoors to relax, you can enjoy the likes of the Chinese Swimming Club, Marine Parade Community Club and Tanah Merah Country Club.
